I have more side effects with long acting stimulants vs short. Why?

I was trialed on Adderall and did fine, but when placed on Adderall XL-I became very dark/depressed.  I was then placed on Ritalin and did great, and now the same thing is happening with my Concerta!  I have tried it for 2 months now and I feel sad/anxious/depressed/hopeless.  Why is…
