I have a 9 year old son who was on Concerta 54mg for a year and just last week was increase to 72 mg because he went through a growth spurt. I am not a doctor, but I would say that if my son who weighs 88 pounds is on 54mg and outgrew it, then I would definitely say that you should be on something alot stronger (but I'm not a dr.). Have you considered seeing someone else? That would be the first route to take. Good luck!

YES!!! I feel it does. My son who is dx adhd, hfa (high functioning autism), anxiety and mood disorder was on 54mg concerta for a little over a year. He started out on the 36mg then the dr bumped him up to 54mg. He was also on risperdone .25mg or .50mg 2x day (depending on weight and social issues) and 40mg celexa. When he was in the middle of the second grade (just turning 8) I upped his concerta to 72mg. It was in the form of two 36mg pills. The amount of control he was given was great in the morning and midafternoon but I found the 'wear off' time was the same regardless of the mg. Lately I have noticed that the 72mg has been making him appear stoned so I have cut back to the 54mg. Even though my sons weight has increased by approximately 10-15 lbs since the initial dosage from 54mg to 72mg uppage, I think going back down is better. I might even try to give 36mg in morning and then have the school to give 36mg at lunch so we could have a consistant level of coverage throughout the day. The school reports that he has a difficult time getting started in the morning, like he is over drugged.
