Thank you for your question and welcome to ADHDCentral.com.
Adderall ,like most medications for ADHD, is a stimulant medication, not a narcotic. It does, however, have a high potential for abuse which is why her doctors are not willing to prescribe it.
There are a number of medications for ADHD, including those that come as patches, which may be something your daughter can discuss with her doctors.
As far as supplements, there are none that have been scientifically shown to significantly reduce symptoms of ADHD. Some people do feel that Omega 3, as part of an overall treatment plan, is helpful but it does not work as effectively as ADHD medications.
Strattera is a non-stimulant medication as is Intuniv. Medications work differently for each person and often it is a matter of trial and error to find the right medication and the right dosage that works best.

Thank you for your quick response. I didnt know there was a patch, or another drug. I have never heard of Intuniv.
I will let my daughter know, maybe this will ease her anxiety about switching medications.
Sincerely,
Mary
