My son has lived with adhd for over 10 years, now at age 16 he is in depressed, aggressive, but not physically violent and involved with a girl who comes from an abusive background who seems to instigate alot of our outbursts.  We are in therapy as a family, but I cannot find anything on the web to see us through the in between times.  For myself, his brothers, step-sister and my husband, thank you for any leads you can give us.

Hi noahbrady,

I'm sorry to hear of your son's and family's difficulties. The teen years are hard enough as it is. But add in ADD (and depression), and you must have your hands full. I would first ask the family therapist if he thinks your son would benefit by adding one on one therapy for your son so that he can work on his ADD and depression.

As for online resources, we have some excellent articles on ADHD and teens right here at www.adhdcentral: http://www.healthcentral.com/adhd/children-adults.html?ic=4026

You might also start a Share Post here and see if you can get feedback and support from other parents who also come here looking for information.

Also, check out Chris Dendy's work. She specializes in Teens and ADHD and has an article on her site at http://www.chrisdendy.com/ride.htm

I would also recommend her book, Teenagers With ADD: A Parents' Guide, which you can see at http://tinyurl.com/5jeepu

Hope this helps!

Terry
