Hi Rebyankee,   Neurontin (gabapentin) is generally prescribed for the treatment of Postherpetic Neuralgia and Epilepsy (seizures) but it also has been prescribed to relieve pain, particularly with conditions like Shingles. You can read about Neurontin by clicking on the link above, and there is more information here. There are precautions and side effects listed here and here.   A user name KrazyKat asked the same question and Cort wrote this in response to Krazykat's questions.   If you have been prescribed this medication, it's best to speak to your doctor about the long term effects you might have. Also, if you are taking other medications in addition to these, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist about any interactions. While online sites are great places to get the information you need to speak to your doctor, they can not take the place of your doctor's solid medical advice.   I hope this helps! Take care and stay in touch. Let us know how you are doing!Vicki M
