Q: Not paying atention.

my child is not paying atention in class, What can i do? I talked with his teacher and he pays more atention to everything around him and not on his school work. I have not had him treated adhd because this is the only problem with him i have.

Thanks for your question. According to this overview on the topic, an ADHD diagnosis requires symptoms in class and at least one other setting. It is posible that he is acting up in school for reasons having to do with the schoolwork itself or being distracted by his fellow students rather than ADHD. Perhaps you can talk to the school about any more specific patterns in this behavior at school (i.e. in certain classes, when he sits near certain students, in certain classrooms, etc.). You can also continue to look for symptoms in settings other than school. I hope this helps.
