I understand your concern in giving your 7 year old medication for ADHD. Many parents feel the same concern you do. There have been conflicting studies on long term use of stimulant medication in children. Some studies have shown some children have a slight stunted growth when taking stimulant medications, but children normally catch up later.

 

Generally, ADHD medications are well tolerated and do not cause problems, when used as prescribed.
