Talk to your child's peditrician now. He should be able to give tips on non prescriptive sleep ideas. As much physical activity with outside fresh air as possible would be beneficial, especially if you suspect things other than a typical toddler. (Does it run in either family?) Attention span at this age is very short so that is not a surprise. Try to use tasks that require sustained attention, like matching blocks with cutouts, cuddling and reading, and beads on wires that require tracking and problem solving. You are your child's best advocate. Be that.
