My grandson has been in school since 2yr. 2 months and now he is 5yr. 2months old. He always was very active and also had the habit of getting up from his little table and moving around a lot. He also went through the bitting syndrome and he did and still hits his companions. I can't cover up for him and although i know other children are bothering him he shouldn't hit them back. He's in his last year of kinder .......and I would really like to know if he has ADHD. He's taking DHA, primrose oil and his daily vitamins, he has a great diet....loads of veggies, beef and chicken.......fresh fruit and fruit juice.....no milk or white bread...and forget candy and chocolate......can you help me? Or is it a conduct problem? He lives with my daughter whom is a single mother.

Hi Joan:

Here are the official diagnostic criteria for ADHD. If you think that your grandson has these symptoms, then you should get permission in writing from his mother to take him to a therapist who specializes in this. You can find one locally at Psychology Today. He may have ADHD or it may just be a discipline problem.

Either way, it's worth getting professional help.

Best of Luck,
