I know I have adhd and am now on medication for it. How did I get this far? I went to college and law school, I passed the bar...how did I get this far and why can't I handle it now?

Thank you for your question and welcome to ADHDCentral.com.
First, congrats on all that you have accomplished!
Some people with ADHD function better in a structured environment and it is possible that you have found both college and law school to be structured enough for you to manage your studies. In addition, many people with ADHD find it easier to focus, sometimes to the point of hyperfocusing, when they are highly interested in something. It is possible this may also have contributed to your success in college and law school.
At this point in your life, you may be more responsible for maintaining your own motivation and organization, instead of having it structured through class responsibilities.
Organization and time management are often challenges for adults with ADHD. I have provided some links to further information that may be helpful:

I wasn't sure exactly what problems you are currently experiencing so I have provided some general information for adults with ADHD. I hope this information helps.
Please let me know how it is going.

Hi Mrs. California,
To add to Eileen's excellent response, I would ask the following- what is different in your life now compared to when you were in school? Are you in a job setting that is not ADD "friendly?" Are you now married with children and juggling more responsibilities?
I agree with Eileen- people with ADHD typically fare much better when their days are highly structured; when they know what is expected of them and when they are highly invested in the activities they are pursuing.
I would suggest that you consult with a therapist who is ADD "savvy" to explore more of why you are struggling so much.
Hope this helps!
Terry
