Q: How bad is the withdrawl from stopping adderall cold turkey after take 45 mg for 3 years?

I am 26 and I have been on adderall a little over 3 years. I now take about 45 mg a day. How bad is the withdrawl going to be if I quit cold turkey and should I just try to step down my dosage. I was going to go away for the weekend and try not to take any but I am going to be with friends and I don't want to be sick.

I am not a medical professional and would not be able to give you medical advice.

Smptoms of Adderall withdrawal can include:

Fatigue

Depression

Changes in heart rhythyms

Many people that take Adderall under the care of a doctor and at prescribed doses do not experience withdrawal symptoms when stopping this medication. Withdrawal can happen when you stop this medication too quickly and have been on high doses.

If you experience problems and withdrawal symptoms that interfere with your daily activities, you should speak with your doctor and explain how you feel.

Because Adderall, and other stimulant medications, can curb your appetite, you may also want to consider adding exercise to your daily routine to help reduce the "extra" eating, once you stop taking Adderall and your appetite returns.
