I have been on Adderall 20 mgs 3x a day for 4 years now and I have just gone through h** trying new meds because I felt the dosage wasnt as effective. I am not a doctor but I think that, with anything, your bodys tolerance would naturally increase after an extended period of time. My doctor hasnt done it but alot of doctors take their patients off meds for a period of time to evaluate there tendencies and how they handle ADHD with out meds. I think that would help keep your tolerance low but i have not experienced it personally. I am not in the best situation right now with my treatment because my Doc knows nothing about the diagnosis. She's prescribing the meds based on my history, my old psych doc, and a RX referral from a Doc 45 mins away that I did CBT with. So I dont call her with questions about the disorder or the meds because she will straight up tell me she doesnt know. But if your doc is familiar with the meds and diagnosis then call them or you can ask your pharmacist. I always forget about them until I see the walmart commercial! You have to be your own advocate.
