If a child has tics and Adhd, does it mean the tics are tourettes?
My 12yr. old grandson has been diagnosed with ADHD, several years ago. follow up was sloppy at best. He has tics, it started with eye blinking, then wide open jaw, possibly jaw popping, now I notice he jerks his head to the side several times in a short span(10-15 min.)
He was recently checked by a psychiatrist for Bi-Polar disorder, apparently isn't Bi-Polar.
Is it possible he may have onset of tourettes?? I am extremely worried about him, he has such a hard time in school, get's into all kinds of trouble, he lies, among other things.
He lives with his mother in another state, and I'm not sure the school is following guidelines of federal law pertaining to the "problem children", getting extra help.
How can I get him help and where does a Grandparent go to get it? I live in Pennsylvania.

Depending on your grandson's diagnosis and his problems in school, he may or may not be eligible for special accommodations at school. Children needing special help at school normally have an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) or Section 504. Your grandson's mother would be able to provide you with additional information on what evaluations have been completed and whether your grandson is eligible for special services.

I am not a medical professional and would not be able to determine if your grandson has Tourette syndrome. This would need to be diagnosed by a physician at a in person appointment.
