Thank you for your question and welcome to ADHDCentral.com.   As a parent, we are always concerned and worried when we think there might be something wrong with our child or we see our child struggling. Despite that, it is our job to make sure our children have every opportunity to succeed and do well.   I am a big proponent of parents knowing best. If you think there is something wrong, then you should check it out. You know your child best. You know what she is capable of and what she is not doing but should be doing.   As far as medications, that would be a decision for you to make with your doctor, if your child does indeed have ADHD. The first step would be to find out. I would not let your fear of medication stop you from finding out, as it may be that your daughter does not have ADHD.   There are some online screening tests you can complete. These should not be used for diangnostic purposes but can help you decide whether you should contact your doctor and many have a feature that allows you to print out the results so you can bring to your doctor to help you discuss what you are concerned about.   Online Screening Tests for ADHD   I am also providing you with some links to additional information that may be helpful:   How to Help Your Child Succeed in School When Parents Feel Their Child Needs Special Accommodations   So You Think Your Child Has ADHD   I hope this information helps   Eileen
