Mom of 2 wonderful boys

I have 2 sons, both are ADHD, and my older son has ODD.  I tried medication for 6 months with my older son, and he had horrible reactions to every type of prescription.  I then took him off of everything, it was like night and day.  It was very challenging to get him through the transition, but it was all worth it.  He is now a 15 year old, doing very well in high school, he is a top athlete with 2.5 gpa, and is a very popular kid.  I had to teach him organization, a bit of self regulation, and work on his self esteem.  I have had him very involved in sports, and swimming.  The more exercise, the better for him.  My younger son is severe ADHD, but the sweetest most loving child ever, not a bit of anger or hostility like the older one had.  My only issue is the school, they are making it very difficult for us, and continue to "recommend" that I medicate my son.
