Hey Scott,
Many states offer health insurance for children for minimal cost. To find out where to apply for medical insurance, call 2-1-1 for referral. (The national 2-1-1 initiative seeks to reserve these three digits nationwide as quick, easy to remember telephone number for finding human services answers).
Another option would be to switch your sons to an older, short acting stimulant that would minimize your cost.
If it is not possible to get medical insurance through the state or to purchase a less expensive stimulant, there are many books written on how to raise AD/HD children without medication. Here are just a few authors to search for on www.amazon.com: Mary Sheedy Kurcinka, Howard Glasser, and Lara Honos-Webb.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) serves families living with AD/HD too. They may know of additional resources and options. If asked, they also refer you to the closest ADD or Learning Disabilities organization in your area for parents.
To find your closest NAMI office, go to www.nami.org.
If you give me more specific information about your son's ages and the particular behaviors that are causing the most concern, I may be able to offer you specific book titles.

i was told that wal mart has some Rx's for $4 mabe his med is on their list. then again you could go to social services, sometimes they'll help you get your meds if you can't afford them, and ask them if you can apply for medicaid due to your income. you may just qualify and if you do all Rx's are just $3 co-pay, doctors too. really try to do these things. one may just work for you. good luck!
