I am currently on strattera and believe it is helping.  I've been on various med trials over the past 2+ years--starting with adderall, then another stimulant instead, then ion concerta then only strattera and now on combination of strattera and adderall (mostly because I still had some left over from a previous script).  When I first started just on strattera, the dose was gradually increased and it worked to stop the constant thoughts bouncing around in my head--I actually complained to the psychiatrist that my head now felt empty, like there was nothing there--so I guess it was working!  But still couldn't stay focused on work--I'm in grad school with a lot of reading and writing required--and have much trouble getting it all done.  Decreased to 50mg strattera in pm and started 20mg adderall xr in am--now up to 30mg of the adderall---the combo seems to be helping--sometimes I wonder how much improvement I can expect from the meds and how much is now up to me to structure my time, because otherwise the day goes by and I still seem to get nothing done---I can find a lot of ways to distract myself from the job at hand---and can only work for about an hour at a time--and sometimes even then have to get up and do anything else except what I'm supposed to be doing.  For example--it's almost 8:30pm, I have a sermon to preach tomorrow and I haven't started it yet, plus 3 papers due Monday, 1 more paper due Tuesday (those are the big ones) plus 2 smaller papers on Monday, and 4 more short papers by Friday!!!  So what am I doing--anything but what I need to get done.   So maybe this combination of meds is not working all that well afterall--but the strattera does help to slow down the scattered feeling in my brain.  Sorry, this is a very long answer--but I guess that's the ADHD.  Good luck!  I'll be interested in seeing what others have to say on this topic.
