Q: ADHD boss and employees

My  male boss has ADHD, and we have discussed it; and I have seen some of the typical symptoms.  We worked together for a few years; but recently had a little disagreement.

He started a conversation very late at night..Now,  I no longer work there...

Even though we had had a good relationship; and he said I was one of his best ever employees..Would his ADHD cause him to just throw all that away? To totally ignore the past few years and get rid of a good employee?  I  thought we were friends, too..

Catie,

I don't know what a health profesional would answer to your question. But I have ADD my self and so does my daughter. I've learned that, one of the things that most ADD people have in common is that are deeply sensitive and loyal, especially when it comes to pople they care about. On the other hand, some ADD people have trouble expressing those feelings in a way that make sense to others. Which some times makes them look rud or careless.

Further more, Some of the "social ques" that are part of human comunication for most people, pass blind right by them. Is not that they don't care. In the midst of their day dreaming and "overwelming storm of things to do and remember, and make up for cause they forgot before" (it feels that way I promise). They realy don't see that they failed to verbaly recognise something that was going on. Some times by the time they remember they wanted to say or do something special, is too late already.

I hope presenting at least part of the view from the other side helps. If you feel like you want to say something to him, go for it! What can you loose?

Cielo, Thanks for answering. It is better than a health professional. I have called him; and we had, what I thought, was a nice chat.. but that was days ago. Here I am feeling like I lost a good friend; and am wondering if all the time we spent working together and talking was just a front.. And he can dispense with people in a heartbeat. Was it a front?
