teen years and duplicity and anger

ali
10/07/08

My 14 year old daughter started expressing herself by using temporary color in her hair, telling people(her friends-loosely used term-) that she's a cutter, has her parents under her thumb and can do what she likes. Now this is a crock, she lies to us,we bust her on it,she is cutting classes, not herself....and is failing everyone of her classes. She won't turn in homework, and has taken to telling me to " F--- Off".  I am ready to put her into a boarding school(Catholic/France) or a shallow grave, tho' I'm trying not to do the latter!  Help! Does anyone have suggestions?

I am 26 years old and am living with ADD, Dyslexia, and a syndrome...

First of all let me say that I have ADD and dyslexia so I have been through a lot myself and I have been through a lot of theorpy as well, which has really helped me.I would try to spend a lot of time with your daughter and talk with her about her life; talk about whats bothering her.  It sounds like she doesn't think that you really care.  I think that boarding school is not the answer yet anyways.  If spending time with your daughter doesn't work, then maybe the both of you can go to a theorpist together. It sounds like your daughter is scared of something. I know that we are in tough times, but maybe take her out shopping, take her out to dinner or even the movies.  If she wants to, let her have her friends come over to your house. Also don't forget that teenage years are very hard for everybody and everybody reacts differently to them.
