is this normal?

after being prescribed adderall 12.5mg and having great results i went to a psychiatrist today and explained he put me on lamictal and strattera. now i came home and looked those up i am not willing to take those. Do i have the right to ask him to prescribe me what worked? i want to call 1st thing in the morning but i am worried he will not listen again. also i am seeking help because my life is "foggy" unorganized, i cant remember appointments or important dates and sleep all the time. i really feel he did not listen to me at all

You certainly have the right to discuss with your doctor your concern, your feelings of not being listened to and your objections to the medications prescribed. You should always feel that your doctor is willing to listen and understand the symptoms you are describing. You also have the right to ask your doctor why he or she would choose not to have you continue on a medication you felt worked well.

 

In addition, if you are not satisfied with your doctor, you have the right to change doctors or ask for a second opinion.
