Q: Not sure if my Dexedrine is working, have taken up to 8 10mg pills in the morning but dont know.

Ive only recently been diagnosed with ADHD and was relieved that there was an actually reason for the way my life was, the doctor prescribed me 5mg dexedrine SR pills 2-3 every morning the first two days of taking this dose i felt amazingly able to focus, speak clearly and able to talk with people more since my brain was clear also i was able to sit for several hours working ahead on several assignment for school and did not mind learning which was a huge change. After this i began feeling like it wasnt doing much anymore becuase with the first days i "knew" the pills were working where as now my freinds just say i talk more now, and my family says i get less aggitated now but i dont feel anymore motivation to do my schoolwork and my abilty to focus directly on it also my thoughts are no longer felling calm and clear but back to thier regular caos. when i went back to the dr and told him this he prescribed me 10mg pills which i take 3 of in the morning and a 5mg tablet in the afternoon. what is confusing is i cannot decide if it is working right or not becuase i still have absolutly no motavation for much of anything but im not sure if that is what my medication should be doing. i have also taken up to 80mg 8 pills in the morning but still am unsure, could dexedrine just not work for me and only worked for the first few days, would other pills make a change, is it possible i dont have adhd but something else? long question srry lol but ya its confusing the hell out of me

have you tried adderall before? it's the same as dexedrine only, possibly may be more effective in treatment in your situation, as it contains two salts instead of just one like dexedrine.

do you take any other medication? this seems to happen a lot to people i've noticed who are prescribed other medications in combination with dexedrine.

i would talk to your doctor and be honest, there is no harm in that at all. nothing is going to be similar to your first experience taking them, at least with trying to chase the euphoria and your body's first introduction to the medication.

maybe you have to consider switching medications, maybe to something that is extended release? there are others out there that are very similar dexedrine that may be more helpful and not make you tired. but if you google "adderall makes me tired" you'd be surprised, and you are not alone at all! remember, it drains you of your energy, so being tired may be completely normal and just your body working against you or something to do with tolerance. keep your health up and in check and closely watched while taking the medication because it can definitely augment certain things, such as sleeping disorders or mood and brain chemistry functioning.

good luck and i hope you get to finding something that is helpful, just don't worry about being honest with the doctor, so many people go through the same thing and some say it's just how it is. thanks for asking questions, it's good to help if i can!
