if your off adderall for a week does the drug still show up in a urinalysis or blood?
Im in the military and they want to put me in the Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) even though Im prescribed the medication and they were aware prior to my positive urinalysis that i was on Adderall XR....I just need to test clean so that they cant put me in the program and try to ruin my military career....
My heart goes out to you. Sounds like you are doing what you need to do to save your career.
Over the years, I have spoken with a few career military people who were successful despite being unable to take medication.
I want you to know that you have options other than medication.
There are nutritional supplements that may be helpful. A good book to read on this subject is Your Miracle Brain by Jean Carper. I personally take a multi, B-complex, C, E, calcium with magnesium, D, and K, fish oil and selinium. I think the B-complex, fish oil, and selinium help the most. I've heard other people describe good results with grape seed extract or blue green algae. Taking a multi is important because vitamins are synergistic.
Also worth exploring are specific amino acids. I'd seek the guidance of a naturopath if I went this route.
There are also nutritional formulations specificially developed to treat ADD that are available through the internet. I don't take them because the above regimen meets my needs, but I encourage you to do your own investigation. My only advise is to seek quality supplements. Go to www.consumerlabs.com for more information.
Neurofeedback is another option, but it's expensive and requires a significant time commitment.
After a quick search on the internet, I found this article http://www.dbpeds.org/articles/detail.cfm?TextID=%20758. I think it provides a good overview of what you're potentially up against.
Keep us posted,

Oops the above links work, but I should have written www.consumerlab.com. There's no "s" at the end of "lab".
