Tuesday, October 12, 2010 soccerkid asks

Q: i think i might have add/adhd. my procrastination used to be tolerable, but now i cant even start on my work and lose focus easily. it was a very emotional process when i forced myself to do hw

i am failing classes because of this. i CANT start on my work or focus, its incredibly frustrating. please help. im a teen by the way, 16. OR is this all in my head an im just incredibly lazy? im a really smart student, i get really high scores on things like the PSAT, but... i just cant make myself start on work, and when i do, i get distracted so easily

I am not a medical professional and would not be able to give you medical advice or tell you whether or not you have ADHD.

 

I would suggest talking to your parents about your concerns and asking if they could take you to the doctor to discuss the possibility of ADHD. You can take an online screening test and print out the results to help you explain to your parents why you think you have ADHD.

 

I don't think you are lazy, people that are lazy don't care about the outcome, they only care about not doing the work. You do care about the outcome and are frustrated with your performance. That doesn't sound like someone who is lazy.
