Q: Is it bad to take adderol and then drink alcohol later that day? (please help!)

Im presicribed to 30 mg extended release adderoll. I have been taking it everyday for about a year.

I take the pill at about 6:00 or 6:30 every morning.

Do you think I would be safe to drink a small amount of alcohol (like a joose or something) at about 9:30 or 10 that night with out any bad side affects from the alcohol and medicine reacting badly?

Any other comments very welcome

Thank you for your question and welcome to ADHDCentral.com.

Adderall (not the extended release) normally lasts for between 6 and 8 hours. Since you take it early in the morning, it should have worn off by 10:00 PM. However, it is never recommended to mix any medication with alcohol, since a completely different chemical reaction could occur.

Some people have indicated that the effects of adderall are more pronounced when combined with alcohol. I have also heard that adderall seems to negate some of the effects of alcohol. This can be dangerous as you may have more alcohol that anticipated.

Either way, please be careful.

if you don't mix, it'd be best.

i wouldn't say it's safe to do this, it can seriously dehydrate you and may require you to feel as if you need to consume more alcohol in order to achieve the same effects you'd normally get from alcohol without being on medication.

i'd stick with the adderall and trying not to drink, unless it's very moderate, but i can assure you, it's not healthy for your heart for you to mix stimulants like adderall with depressants such as alcohol. hope this was helpful, and this is the best answer i have because i know someone who has combined both for quite awhile and have seen them ruin themselves quicker than they normally would have, unfortunately.
