I just started taking Depakote 1-250mg tablet for 3 days, then 2-250mg tablets for 5 days, then 3-250mg tablets for 5 days, then I go to taking 4-250mg tablets & that's the dose that my Doc (Psychiatrist) wants me to stay on.  Well by the 3rd nite of taking the 2-250 mg tablets I was really tired the next day & could hardly quit yawning & my best friend & my landlord good even tell that I was really out of it (super tired & worn out looking) & it looked as if I hadn;t had any sleep for a few days (which I was sleeping pretty good @ nite), so I'm also a little tired still during the day since I started taking the 3-250mg tablets on this past Friday the 17th.  I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else & if may the dose of 1,000mg's per day is going to be to much of a dose & if I should only be taking a 500mg dose instead per day, but I'm going to continue on w/the way she wants me to take it & wait to see if maybe I/my body just needs to get used to taking it before I say anything to my Psychiatrist the next time I see her.  If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.  Thanks a bunch --- Heather

Tiredness can be a side effect of Depakote. It may disappear as your body adjusts to the medication, however, I would still contact your doctor and just let her know how you are feeling. She would be best able to determine if your dosage should be adjusted or if you should stay on to see if you begin to feel better. Either way, it is important to let your doctor know the side effects you are experiencing.
