Q: Hi, I have an increased appetite on Focalin XR.

I have an ED & I am finding my binge eating is getting worse & appetite is bigger & more unpredictable during the time I switched medications & this is my 1st time on an ADD/ADHD medication, which I also cannot sleep through the night on or think during the day on- very sleepy. :(

I was taken off provigil & put on the Focolin XR & my Dr. left & its been 4 days & nights.  Those are likely the largest factors.  Could that be a lack of provigil or provoigil withdrawl or the addition of Neurontin for pain or the Focalin XR?  The Neurontin has only been for 4 days, as well & same for off of the flexeril (doubt that is much of a culprit) & Provigil - sorry that's complex! TY

Thank you for your question and welcome to ADHDCentral.com.

I am not a medical professional and would not be able to give you medical advice.

Focalin, which is a stimulant medication, does not normally cause an increase in appetite. Many people report decreased appetite when taking Focalin.

I am not familiar with the side effects of the other medications you have mentioned and would not be able to give you an answer. If you have questions concerning your medications, side effects or interactions with different medications, you should speak directly to your pharmacist. He or she would be in a better position to answer questions about the medication you are taking.
