Thank you for your question and welcome to Health Central's ADHD Community.
I am not a medical professional and would not be able to give you medical advice or suggest a medication for your doctor.
Each person reacts to medication differently, for some people Adderall is the best medication, for others it may be Concerta. There is no "best" or "worse" medication, it is instead based on a person's individual reaction to the medication.
Unfortunately, sometimes it is a matter of trial and error to find the right medication, and the right dosage. Some people report trying several different medications before finding one that works "best."
I would suggest keeping a daily log for your child. You might want to write down information such as when he took the medication, what he ate and drank, what symptoms of ADHD you are still seeing and what time you are seeing them. You can then share this information with your doctor and together you can decide if the medication should be changed or adjusted.

My child tried Adderall, and had increased anxiety, had frequent nightmares and started picking. we quit the Adderall and then tried Focalin, no results. Then we went to Strattera. He is doing well on the strattera, and has taked it for over two years, possibly more, i have not kept track. but the picking that started with the anxiety with the adderall never went away. he has little scabs all over and i am afraid he will contact mrsa at some point. I with you luck. We are thinking of either adding another med or changing at some point as he is at the maximum straterra dose. but it did work very well up to now. No observable side effects. Sleeps well, no nightmares.
