Q: rejected by Blue Cross Illinois for having ADD

I just got rejected by Blue Cross Illinois--they said it's not because I take Adderall, but because of the diagnosis of ADD and anxiety. I am 62 years old and have always considered ADD an advantage in life until now. I got the diagnosis when my psychiatrist sent me for a brain scan. When my husband left after 35 years with a 35 year old--I needed to take meds to be able to cope with 3 years of divorce proceedings (we do hate paperwork!). Now I'm trying to get insurance and find that I'm being discriminated against--I have no other health problems and have never been hospitalized. What do other people do about insurance?
