Hi Michele!   So sorry for taking some time to respond.   First of all HUGS!  (((Michele)))   I hear you.  It is very hard and it is is extremely difficult to find someone who understands what you are going through and who can help.  My son has autism and we went through tons of professionals...psychologists, speech therapists, teachers, OT's doctors...you name it.  When my son was little he loved to turn off and on lights and slam doors for a good part of the day.  He would even come into our bedroom in the middle of the night and turn on and off our lights!  When we told this to the psychologist she recommended that we make a "learning experience" out of this and teach him the words "on" and "off."  I invited her to take my child overnight so she could teach him this and not sleep!  lol    So just told you that story (I have many!) to say to you...you are not alone.    Unless the person is living with your child it is really hard for them to really know what is going on and what it is like for you and your family.    I am hoping that the med change helps first of all.   I am interested in the fact that your son is not doing these things at school.  This is actually a common experience.  Many kids on the autism spectrum will be great at school and then fall apart at home.  I suspect part of the reason is he feels more comfortable to release all that stress at home.  And too...you can be super structured at home all the time.  I know from my experience with my son that...some extra structure at home can help a lot.  There is comfort in structure...as in a schedule.   Please do hang in there and...I will do my best to give you support and any information you might need.   Thank you so much for sharing your experience here.
