Q: Can a child with ADHD control the way they act if they know there being watched to see if they have ADHD?

My nephew went to the doctor's they gave his mother a paper for his teacher to fill out over a month period and he know's about it. The paper is to find out if he has ADHD. Will he be able to control his behavior in order not to be diagnosed with ADHD?

I am not a medical professional and would not be able to give you medical advice. However, after raising a child with ADHD I can tell you it would be very difficult for  him to control his behavior all day, every day for a month.

 

Has your nephew indicated that he doesn't want a diagnosis of ADHD?

 

When diagnosing ADHD, a doctor normally has parents, teachers and other care-givers complete the form. He bases his diagnosis on these forms as well as personal conversations with both the child and the parents.
