I was diagnosed with ADHD in high school, but I also feel like I suffer from anxiety and depression mainly around times when I have a lot of mid terms, papers and finals. Is this part of the ADD moodiness or is it a whole seperate thing?

Hi there
It is entirely possible to also have anxiety and depression as well as ADHD. Eileen has written about co-existing conditions of ADHD which do include anxiety and depression.
If you feel that your anxiety or depression is interfering with your day to day routines or you just can't shake the feelings...it may be time to pursue getting some help from a therapist or counselor.
We have some wonderful Health Central sites dedicated to depression and anxiety called My Depression Connection and Anxiety Connection. I am the community leader for the depression site and Eileen leads the anxiety site so we welcome you to come on over. There is a lot of information and support on either site.
Let us know if you need any more information and/or resources.

I have the opposite problem. i was diagnosed with chronic depression at 17 tried every anti-deprssion and anti-psychotic med on the planet before i was diagnosed with ADD. My docs told me my inability to deal with the symptoms of ADD can cause anxiety/depression. escpecially in women. but i take meds for both ADD and depression and the combo seems to be helping for now any way! Best of Luck!
I was just diagnosed with Anxiety, Depression, and ADHD. Its totally a weird form of ADHA. And im just a 10th grader in highschool. Im on many different pills, antidepressants methelin ect.... I strugle with everyday school work, test and pretty much everything. I think your moodiness is just stress.
well, i have ADHD too and i was diagnosed when i was 8yrs old and i get what your saying, i think that ADHD causes depression and anixety attacks, i dont think its a totally seperate thing, i think it happens because maybe you think you cant do as well as other people can because you have ADHD and that scares you so thats what causes the anixety of failure.

i agree with you it could be stress but maybe more the problem is failure and the fear it causes with ADHD.
