Can somebody please explain what IDEA 2004 is and how it applies to children with ADHD?
Thank you for your question and welcome to ADHDCentral.com.
IDEA is a law governing special education services. Many children with ADHD do not qualify for services under IDEA as it has strict guidelines regarding requiring special education services because of their disability. Often, children with ADHD can obtain some accommodations/modifications at school to help with ADHD behaviors that may interfere with their ability to learn in a classroom environment.
