Although it is commonly thought that ADHD is more prevalent in boys (men) than in girls (women), this is not necessarily true. Boys tend to be diagnosed more often than girls, especially when younger and when hyperactive. Girls may have inattentive ADHD symptoms and may be overlooked and not diagnosed with ADHD, however, some studies show that gender does not make much of a difference in the prevalence of ADHD overall.

There are a number of websites that offer ADHD screening questionnaires. Although these are not meant to be used as a diagnostic tool, they can give you an idea of whether your daughters may want to seek medical care or request an evaluation for ADHD.
