Hi,
I have taken methylin er for maybe a month, prescribed by gastroenterologist for extreme and unrelenting fatigue associated with a couple of auto-immune disorders. Am taking 20 mg. a day, in the morning, 1/2 hr before eating or taking other medications.
Initially had great benefit -- still some physical fatigue but could now 'get beyond it' if I really wanted or needed to do something. Felt more in touch with the world vs. half-dead all the time. Importantly for me, I also found that I was able to get back into writing, now had the kind of energy needed to come up with (good!) ideas, sustain them etc.
However, a few weeks later I am finding I'm pretty much back to 'pretty darn wiped out' around noon or earlier and am getting kind of depressed about it. Had mentioned to the nurse who did say to keep tabs on it but have been hesitant to ask about an increase in dose (don't want to get addicted).
In the meantime, a med student mentioned the 'extended release' for this med only lasts about 4 hours and some people do better with 'regular,' maybe taking morning and later (though early enough to avoid messing up sleep).
