I am not a medical professional and would not be able to give you medical advice.
There is, unfortunately, no best medication. Everyone reacts differently to medications and sometimes it is a matter of trial and error to find the right medication and the right dosage.
I would suggest keeping a daily log. Note what medication your son took, when he took it, what he ate and when he ate it, what mood he is in, how high is anxiety is, how he slept and what symptoms of ADHD you notice. I know this is a lot of information but it really can help you and your son's doctor decide if this is the right medication, if the dosage needs to be adjusted or if your son should try a different medication.
Sometimes foods and drinks impact how a medication works. See: How Does Food Impact ADHD Medications? It is important to read the package insert with the medications he is taking to see if there are certain foods that should be avoided.
