The FDA lists the following foods and drugs that should be avoided. Some of these increase the absorption of Adderall or Adderall XR and others may decrease the absorption. Both will lower the effectiveness of the medication. Adderall and Adderall XR may block other medications and therefore the other medication may not be as effective.

• Foods or medications that increase acidity (such as citrus juices)
• Urinary Acidifying agents
• Adrenergic blockers
• Antacids
• Tricyclic antidepressants
• MAOI inhibitors
• Antihistamines
• Antihypertensive medications
• Chlorpromzines
• Exthosuximide
• Haloperidol
• Lithium Carbonate
• Meperidine
• Methenamine therapy
• Norepinephrine
• Phenobarbital
• Phenytoin
• Propoxyphene
• Veratrum alkaloids

If you are taking other medications, you should discuss this with your doctor or pharmacist. He or she would be able to tell you if there is a potential interaction.
