how to determine the most effective dose

t.b.
06/22/08

I have been diagnosed with ADHD and have been prescribed 5mg adderall tablets.  I was told to take one pill twice a day morning and noon.  I do not feel any benefits of taking this medication and am trying to figure out what an effective dose for me would be.  6'0 218lbs and physically active so an atypical body mass index.  I have always been prescribed 20mg of ritalin in the past twice a day morning and noon.  Now that my doctor is insistant on Adderall...im lost. I do not want to seem pushy towards him, but what he prescribed is not effective.  Any suggestions or input would be extremelly helpful.  Im so tired of dealing with all the symptoms I have.
