Hey there,

Are you referring to ADD adults and children who take stimulants to manage their symptoms or recreational drug users who snort or inject stimulants to get high?

I was diagnosed with ADD in 1990 and took stimulant medication off and on for seven years.

I started and stopped taking Ritalin many times with no problems other than a mild worsening of my ADD symptoms over a two week period.

I've never experienced anything as dramatic as you've described. Nor do I recall any members of my adult ADD support group having any kind of significant difficulty.

Could you tell me more about what your concern is as it relates to you personally or to someone you know and care about?

I'd like very much to be helpful if I can.

Most, in fact almost all, ADD adults that I speak with are resistant to taking stimulant medication initially because they've heard or read information that is misleading and inaccurate. However, once they've talked with other people like themselves who have chosen to take stimulant medication, they feel more comfortable doing so, often with positive results.

In general, the biggest problem ADD adults and children have with stimulants is remembering to take them.

Hope this helped.
