Q: i take immediate release adderall, 60-80mg day i sit all day at my job sometimes sitting for 15 hrs day. Lately after taking "too much" adderall my ankles swell and go back down after sleep...

i have back and neck muscle tension causing head ache which i relieve by stretching....i was stretching and i hurt my left arm and left chest muscle area...i randomly get cramps in my left chest muscle (very mild pain) never in the arm though i judt dnt want to go to my dr unless i have to i just dnt know if im being paranoid or something more serious is going on..... ive tried looking up side effects similar to mind but all i found were stories of swelling that wont go away...for me once i stand up and stretch is when they get swollen and red as if now they are getting blood flow...when i wake up the next morning they r fine....it doesnt happen every day only when im sitting for hours and hours and taking more aadderall than usual...from reading some adderall stories online...I'm afraid if i go to my dr. she will take me off adderall but adderall helps me tremendously i always did bad in school and work due to lack of focus adderall helps me operate at my full potential but i dnt want to be another person that something terrible happens too that could have been avoided just by going to te dr.

Thank you for your question and welcome to ADHDCentral.com.

I am not a medical professional and would not be able to give you medical advice.

Although I can understand not wanting to go to the doctor, I would suggest you call and talk with your doctor about your symptoms. He or she would be better able to determine if your symptoms are being caused by a physical condition or are side effects from your Adderall.

Also, because stimulant medicine has been connected with cardiovascular problems, any chest pain, whether mild or not, should be reported to your doctor.

I have been taking adderall for 7 years now and I am working a desk job which requires long hours, not necessairly alot of movement.

I am 25 and since I have been working here ( 3 mths) I have noticed increased swelling in my feet, and even sometimes my ankles swell and feel bruised to the touch.

very strange.. I went to the doctors about it did blood tests..etc.. and nothing wrong.

A lady told me about these socks you can buy for this.. I am lookng into buying them for when I amw orking and I want to see if this helps.

When I take adderall I notice sometimes my hands become really red, for no reason. A few years ago taking adderall, felt more effective.

You should still seek a doctor and explain your 'symptoms' could be just something to do with your veins or hard for the blood to flow.

Keep ur legs up whenever possible, I knwo this is difficult seeing as we both have desk jobs, but in order for your health, remind yourself to stretch, and keep feet elevated as much as possible.
