Please tell me everything anybody knows about Depakote
Larzrippin
Depakote is a anti-seizure medication that also is used as a mood stabilizer, most often for bipolar patients to control the manic stages of bipolar. It is also used to control migraine headaches. This medication is sometimes used for ADHD, especially if other co-existing mood conditions are present. It can also help to reduce hyperactivity.
You can read more information on depakote:
Some of the side effects you want to watch for are:
Diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, hair loss, blurred/double vision, ringing in the ears, shakiness (tremor), unsteadiness, weight changes
If any of these side effects causes a problem or interferes with daily activities, you should talk with your doctor.
I hope this answers your question.

Thank you for your comment. We have addressed the issue of those that do not "believe" in ADHD:
ADHD - Why Some People Don't Believe in ADHD
ADHD - How Do You Deal With ADHD Naysayers?
However, most of our content is on treatment and management of ADHD symptoms. This is because it is so important for people to understand the condition as well as learn behavior management tools to help them in their daily lives.
It sounds like you have had some bad experiences in other people not believing your ADHD causes certain symptoms. Tell us more about the situation and where you (or your daughter) are having the most problem.
As far as Depakote for children, this medication has been approved for children over the age of 10 for seizures and over the age of 16 for migraine headaches. Whether or not your child would be able to take this medication would be up to her doctor.
Unfortunately, I cannot call you. HealthCentral.com is a online source for information and we are not available for phone consultations. I am not a medical professional and am not able to give medical advice. I do try to share information to help people make informed decisions in their healthcare choices. If you have questions and concerns about your daughter, you should address these to your doctor. He or she would be better able to answer questions about her care.
Thanks again for your comment and if you want to share some of the difficulties you are facing, I will try to provide some additional information.
Eileen

Can young children take it? You identify yourself as an expert and most of your topics I read are advice or medical information on the ailment. It is time for all societies to also address the harassment and stigma accompanying such ailment.
What truly sad is when I see educated people acting so dumb and cruel. For God's sake! If today is my turn, tomorrow might be yours!
Can you call me on this cell phone? 917 306 4126. I have many concerns, primarily for my young adult daughter than myself.
I am a 50 years old woman. The stigma of mental illness/adhd really should not affect me if it does not interfere with my work (making me less productive) and my getting medical help.
Please address the hate and the social stigma. This is 2010.
