How do I determain if my son has ADHD or is just full of energy and doesn't want to do schoolwork?

My son is 5 1/2. He has alot of energy and can be all over the place. He gets bored fast and doesn't like do do his work in the classroom. He also gets distracted and likes to play around?

Talk to your pediatrician. Also talk to his teacher - many times what you think of hyperactivity is just high energy. A teacher can tell you if it's not within the normal ranges. ADHD has other symptoms so get a handle on all that concerns you and present that to your son's doctor.
