Thank you for your queswtion and welcome to HealthCentral's ADHD Community.

You don't mention whether your grandson has been diagnosed with ADHD - if so, you can certainly talk with his doctor about the concerns you are having and work to implement some behavioral techniques to help manage his behavior.

One such technique is to use a chart with stickers. The best way to implement this type of strategy is to choose one behavior that you want to work on changing, for example, waiting when he wants something. Each time he waits patiently and doesn't scream, he gets a sticker on his chart. When he gets a certain number of stickers, he gets a small reward. In the beginning, you want to make sure you give positive reinforcement right away so even if he waits, without screaming, for 30 seconds, he gets a sticker. As time goes on, you can increase the time until he gets the sticker. Once you feel you have improved this behavior, you can add a second behavior.
