Hi Melissa

This is an excellent question for either your doctor or even your pharmacist.  There are so many medications for either disorder and then there are combinations of meds.  I am not a doctor but from my firsthand experience it really matters what symptoms you are dealing with and also...your unique chemistry.  There honestly isn't anyone who can answer this question because...what works for one person might not work for you.

Here is what we can do...is give you the information about the various medications so you can read up on them, take a look at side effects, and then make a list to take to your doctor of possibilities.

Here is our information about the various ADHD medications.

Here is our information about anti-anxiety medications.

I am hoping some of our members can chime in to talk about their experiences.  But again...the only way you will know what works or what doesn't is to talk to your doctor and make a decision.

Let us know what you decide.

Thank you so much for the info. We go and see our doctor on Monday and hope that he has the right stuff for us. I did forget to say this is for our 9 year old daughter who is right now on stratterra and celexa, which now her symptoms of adhd are all coming back slowly. I just hate the idea of always switching, but really want whats best.

Thank you again.

Melissa

Melissa,

I agree with Merely Me, you need to talk to your doctor about your situation. You also need to develop a good working relationship with your pharmacist. Pharmacists are some of the best and most underutilized medical resources available.

You may have to try have to try several different types of medications before you find the right one. They have a pretty general understanding how these medications work but we don't all react the same way. I was lucky and responded well to Adderrall.  I was so overwhelmed by my ADHD that I never realized how serious my anxiety issues were so serious. I found that once we treated my ADHD, my anxiety issues improved.

Good luck.
