Doctors: Kids on stimulants should get heart test

The American Heart Association now recommends that children who have been diagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder be screened for heart disease before they start taking a stimulant medication. This would help doctors identify kids with undiagnosed heart problems. These children may face a higher risk of heart attack while taking stimulants such as Ritalin, Concerta, and Focalin.
