New research suggests that children with
attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder have a genetic condition
that affects how the brain processes information. Researchers think
this problem develops in the second trimester of pregnancy and
makes it harder for children with ADHD to read body language and
other nonverbal cues. Researchers say this proves ADHD is not just
a behavioral disorder but a genetic condition.
