Ritalin Effects

Parenting style may help more than ADHD meds

The Harvard Mental Health Letter suggests that parents set appropriate limits and use moderate punishments to help preschoolers with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder instead of giving them medication. A recent study found that Ritalin is not as effective in children ages 3-5 as it is for older children. Doctors suggest parents try adjusting their parenting style to help children control their impulses before giving children stimulant medications. Read more »
