In a recent study at University of Illinois, researchers found that children who have attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) had greater attention after a 20-minute walk in a park than after a similar walk in a downtown area or a residential neighborhood. Investigators also found that the "greener" the space a child walked through, the greater his or her attention span. This study builds on previous research that showed that spending time in nature reduces ADHD symptoms.
