Health Canada has received two reports linking the attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) drug Strattera with tics in children. In one case, a 7-year-old girl was prescribed Strattera (atomoxetine) for ADHD and began experiencing new-onset motor tics that stopped only after a second drug, Risperdal (risperidone), was added to her regimen. In a second case, an 11-year-old boy experienced a worsening of vocal tics after beginning treatment with Strattera.
