New research suggests that behavioral therapy--including positive reinforcement, consistency, and structure--can help the estimated 1 percent to 4 percent of preschoolers with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. In a study of 135 preschoolers with severe ADHD, these techniques boosted learning and reduced aggression in 30 percent of the kids.
