A new study is going to examine the links between attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and substance abuse. This European project will last 14 years and evaluate 6,000 people with substance abuse problems for ADHD, bipolar disorder, anti social personality disorder, and borderline personality disorder. This study will help to develop a program for detection, diagnosis and treatment of ADHD in addicted patients and to determine ways to prevent substance abuse in patients with ADHD.
